The Art Of Technology

Now you're probably thinking what part or form of technology is an art? Well it's not in the shape of a drawing, a sketch or even a painting, but it's more to do with the design and its reliability.

The art lies with the designer or inventor of any given piece of technology or construction for that matter. And the reliability comes in the form of how the designer (artist) presents it to you. Technology is an art if it's perceived in a way that it gains your attention, it presents itself to you in such a way it leaves you mesmerised or even astonished. And just like the old classic piece or art in your local museum, technology both new and old can be quite expensive indeed.

We may think within our households that the technology is modern, up to date and in some ways quite futuristic. Then, you go and watch some sci-fi flick and think, wow we could do with some of that. The technology is out there for sure but only a chosen few have the pleasure of experiencing such technology at close hand.

What makes or who puts such a high price on technology, who decides how much a micro chip cost or a little resistor? I guess the principal is the same for the man next door who drives a mini and the woman across the road who drives a porsche. Both do exactly the same job just in slightly different ways, but the underlying technology is based upon the same art template.

Then lets look at the reliability issues. Now if they can safely build and send an airplane air born to travel hundreds of miles, if they build and send a shuttle back and forwards into space without breaking down or with a very high track record of reliability, then why not the same for our humble cars, tv's, computers or watches? I mean you're not likely to call for the Rac or AA should you break down 20 odd thousand feet up in the air or beyond. Well to me the answers quite simple where technology is concerned, it's all about the economy and sustaining the survival of mankind. Cause if we had cars that never broke down or computers that never packed up, then the art of technology would paint a very grim and dull picture for us a like, the future would be very bleak indeed.

But on the flip side, how did man manage before all this technology came to hand, before such thing as currency was invented? Oh it's very true that technology has made our lives so much easier but on the flip side it's becoming so much harder for us to sustain, keep up with and afford the ever increasing progression of technology. The latest hi-tech tv's will set you back near to a four figure sum and how reliable is that technology? Well once again they're only built to last so long and so long is never anywhere near long enough.

Don't get me wrong this isn't a negative post, it came about after hearing someone go on about how technology and the latest mod-cons are ruining his life as the need to change and keep up with it all can be somewhat of a challenge.

I could see his point, especially with us moving into this new era of technology called digital. Now here's another form of art that has been around for sometime, but now it's at the stage where peoples choices are being taken away from them and whether they can afford to or not they are forced to make the switch, in some cases way before they can afford to.

The art of technology is a picture that will sit nicely on one persons wall but on another persons wall you will see the imperfections.

Bless

The Albums

"Restraint" & "Less Chatter, More Torque"

Wow I'm so pleased to announce the releases of my back to back debut albums for 2012. The albums have been almost two years in the making but the journey has been inspiring, enlightening, self-rewarding, testing, positive and a mystery in parts along the way. Music is like my heartbeat, I feel every beat, murmur and adrenalin as it pumps around my entire existence. I'm sure that goes for many out there, as if it wasn't for music and song our world truly would be silent.

No matter where we come from, what we do or what we believe in, you can bet music and song plays a part in your daily life's roll. I think we underestimate just how important music is to us, we kind of take it for granted. For me it would be the worst horror movie out there if music and song wasn't a part of life. ooooh perish that thought.

I've so enjoyed working on these albums, both of which have been produced by two very creative and talented producers namely Sinima and Jrum respectively. Both albums are similar but yet have their own identity, personality and charisma. Each one crossing over the borders of genre's as they intertwine and merge together each song.

I joked that maybe I should call them Marmite 1 & 2, as my style is one you'll either love or hate, but hey each to their own, so I hope you find the flavour of some of the songs if not all, suits you pallet. I've tackled a range of life's subjects throughout both albums and for every mood we face. Yet each song and track is uplifting, entertaining and eye openers in places. Working with the backing tracks of both Sinima and Jrum I've been able to open up myself and be creative in what I've written. I'm my own worst critic and the first to admit I'm not as naturally full flowing and creative as the many top performers out there, but it's all about that personal dream you have and to chase it with every breath God breathes into your body.

For those who purchase either or even both of these albums (not forgetting I'm throwing in a 5 track EP as a bonus), I hope will find you can just put them on and just hit play and let them play away and entice you into my world of entertainment. Hey who knows, you may even run for the repeat haha.

But seriously, no matter your dream or aims in life, it truly is to never give up. To face those obstacles you face with clear vision and positive focus. Never to feel you've been beaten or failed, life isn't about failing or being beaten. It's about TRYING. It's just like tripping over as a child, you pick yourself up or maybe even someone is there to give you that help in hand back onto your feet. Yeah you may suffer the odd graze or shed the odd tear but you'll try again and move on.

Keep your dreams alive people, no matter what they are in life.

Bless

Music Is More Than Life....

It's our heart and soul, it's the air that we breathe and words that we speak. Music is what makes us smile, it makes us cry and it makes us try. Music is the core element of what life is all about, because if it's one thing the WHOLE world can relate too and unite over, it's music.

It doesn't matter your creed or colour, religion or belief. You show me a single human being that does'nt have music or song in their life. Even those who are unfortunate and have loss of hearing, they hear music, bless. Do you realise just how powerful music is and how much it plays a part in our lives?

Friends can let us down, family can let us down, jobs or circumstances can let us down, but you tell me, when has music or song EVER let you down???? It's your most loyal friend, companion, comforter, teacher and healer. It will tell you things you need to hear without prejudice. It will show you answers you couldn't find. It will remind you of times you'd forgotten and bring back memories. You must all have a song or songs that remind you of a certain time, good or bad it doesn't matter as that's what memories are about.

Music is more than life people.......

Bless Up

Dreams

So I was going over the whole 'Dream' momentum of life. How much do you believe in dreams or the dreams you have? Do you take note of your dreams and act on those that you have? Do you even dream at all or remember your dreams? And last but not least, do your dreams frighten you?

Dreams are such an important part of our lives, though maybe we don't realise this or take much notice of this. But while we're asleep, this is when our mind truly comes alive in its creative and imaginative form.

I generally remember every dream that I have and fortunate enough for me I do not have bad dreams or nightmares often at all. I distinguish the two as I believe bad dreams and nightmares are two totally different entities in their own right. I mean a bad dream could be you falling over and breaking an arm, but a nightmare, well, nightmares are in a different league altogether.

Dreams and our way of dreaming just fascinates me. Everything about a dream intrigues me, be it good or bad. It's like we become a different person when we dream, maybe someone we don't really know, as when we dream we're kind of setting our minds free, releasing it into another dimension of life that can't exist in the conscious world of our minds.

And how creative can dreams be? I often think back on my (the ones I remember of course) and think who was that person? Do I know them? Will I get to know them? Have they in some way crossed my path of life?

The images of people we create while dreaming is so vast, some are those of people we know, but then you have those random dream like characters that leave you wondering just who they are or were. How much notice do you take of your dreams or do you simply wake up and crack on with you day?

I do personally believe that there is more to a dream that meets the living eye. It's like the mind truly is a world, a universe of it's own, which deep down is different to the world we live in, in our conscious (awake) state of mind.

Dreaming is important to us as it also helps us to recover, heal and mend. And where nightmares are concerned, well I guess these are like counsellors, in the sense they force us to face and deal with our demons. We may not like them or be afraid of them, but until we tackle the issues involved in such nightmare dreams, then they will persist.

This has just been my basic overview of how I perceive dreams and dreaming.

Would be nice to hear your thoughts and views on dreams.

All the best

L.K

Life - The Art of Living

Life, The Art of Living

Life is an art. Just like a painted picture, each scene represents our life. The colours used represent our emotions and each picture that is framed, represents the memories we hold in our minds. Just like an artist creating a painting, life requires a certain level of skill. Though even the most experienced and talented artist can make mistakes or not be entirely content with their work.

The art of living is much the same, at times we may make mistakes, judge something wrong or not be entirely happy with how we've handled a certain situation. This is where acceptance plays an important role, not only in life but throughout our lives. For until we accept a certain situation or an event in our life that has unsettled us, we're unable to deal with it. We'll find it much harder to tackle or overcome, to understand or find a solution. Without acceptance, there's no formula, as our emotions, our thoughts and focus become nothing more than a tangled maze of equations.

Just like an artist painting, the art of living requires a steady hand, a clear focus and stable mind. But with this we also need the ability to accept, acceptance in the form of understanding. We need to understand that in life the scene may change long before the paint is dry. When faced with such a situation or dilemma in life, where you've found yourself at a crossroad, just pause for a moment and look at it from another angle and perspective. Think of yourself as an artist painting a scene in your life. Now when an artist paints and their subject object moves in any way, you'll notice them pause for a while, their eyes refocus as they look at it from a different angle. They’ll adjust the positioning of their head slightly, then apply the brush at a different angle or adjust the texture and shading to accommodate the change.

This is precisely how the art of living works. We as the artist of our lives begin with a blank canvas, and as our life changes the scene will change with us. Its not to give on up when things don't go our way or we feel the challenge of life is too much. There are ways and methods to overcome obstacles we face and mountains we can not move. Yes, we may need to paint another picture or just a variation of one we've painted before, but how many artists do you know who've only ever painted one picture throughout their life. Every job we undertake, a relationship that we enter, our style of driving or preparing a meal, most will be approached differently by the individual. This is another principal shared by the art of living and an artist who paints pictures.

You've heard what they say about artists, each have their own unique style, signature and approach to their creations. As the artist of our own life, the outcome of the portrait depends on how we approached the scene. We all have our own unique way in life, our own signature and style of how we approach things. The art of living is not something we can perfect in a day, a month or a year. A true artist spends a lifetime perfecting their art, always learning, adapting and more importantly accepting when things don't turn out as planned. Life is also tailor made, with only ourselves knowing our true measurements in order for it to fit. A happy artist is a content artist, but even an unhappy one paints. You may ask yourself why, why do something your unhappy with? Well, there's no escaping from the art of living, its a part of life. So when you're faced with an unpleasant scene, don't discard your brush, pause. Your current scene in life may have changed, but the paint is yet to dry. Think back to a point in your life when you've been faced with tough decisions, hard situations or even unimaginable circumstances. Now at those times when you found your life was in a tunnel, searching for the light at the end, yes you found it difficult, even tiring. But this time do as an artist does, pause for a moment and approach any obstacles from a different angle, saying to yourself "I got through those times".

Throughout life you will build yourself up a remarkable portfolio, with many changing scenes and scenarios, but that’s what being an artist is all about.

Life, it is quite simply, The Art of Living.

Life - The Art of Living © Lincoln Patterson 2011.
Music - It's a living Entity

Music is more than just all around us, its part of our heart and soul, its a living Entity. It echoes around every breath we take and thoughts we have. Can you for a minute envisage the silence of music and song? Or even the importance of music and song to those of us unfortunate not to hear? As even those who may not be able to hear a spoken word, will hum a tune, a piece of music or sing a song. There's just no end or silence to music and what it can bring to our hearts and soul. A musical Entity that roams freely in our world, this world. And just like an Entity, a piece of music or a song, may not be seen, but will always be felt.

With each and every heart beat, we can compose a new piece of personal music to ourselves. Music and song I feel is something we take for granted, it doesn't matter its style, genre or origin, music is a form of language, translated, interpreted and adapted in our own way. What I can take from a piece of music or a song, someone else can give. What I may put into a piece of music or a song, someone else can take away and use.

Music is a world of unknown bounderies, like an Entity it has no limits as to the heights or even depths it can reach. I feel it is safe to say that at some point in our every day lives, music and song will play an important part of it. Even if its just sitting down to your favourite sitcom, you'll know the theme music or song off by heart. Maybe you're preparing the evening meal, once again, you may find yourself humming away to a tune or a song. You could be in the shower, at a party or friends, simpy just relaxing at home or driving to a location. Have we ever stopped to wonder just how important music is to our lives and just how much it would be missed?

Music is educational, entertaining, understanding, a teacher and a guide, a comforter or companion. Just what are the depths as to what music and song can reach. It's the language of our hearts a living and breathing Entity with every note or tone played or heard.

Music is a world we all relate too, the passion of our life, as there will always be a piece of music or a song with our signature on it.

Music - Its a living Entity....

Bless

Anger - Controlled or Uncontrolled

Anger - Controlled or Uncontrolled

So I thought I would touch on the subject of "Anger" today and try to
evaluate just how much of it we can control or choose to control and how
much of it we allow to just be. Ok, from my personal experiences and
watching those around me, I tend to notice a pattern of what may make
someone blow up in anger, but under the same circumstances but let's say
with a different person present, the anger is more controlled to the
point it doesn't surface at all. Alright admittedly this person may be
fuming like crazy underneath, but they've still managed to control their
anger simply because of the present company they're in.

You see
my view is, for someone to say they are an aggressive person with a
temper or anger etc etc, then no matter the situation they are in, this
anger will surface, be it in the supermarket, at home, in the street, in
a church, at a wedding, a funeral etc, if lets say the same scenario
that got you angry in a supermarket happened at a wedding, but it was
only in the supermarket that you vented your anger with rage etc but not
in the case as if you were at a wedding, then the anger is controlled,
is it not?

Also respect, does respect play a part in how one
controls anger? Let's say this known angry person is out on the town
with friends and something kicks off etc or a situation arises that sets
them off, so off they go on an angry mission being all aggressive,
abusive and angry. Now lets say you're out having a meal with someone
you're trying to impress and hope to date, now if the same situation as
before arose etc, would you now kick off in the same way or would you be
more reserved, as you did not want this person to see you react in such
an angry and violent way?

I guess I could throw many scenarios
and circumstances at you regarding this matter. Maybe you've found
yourself in similiar circumstances, where you'll blow up all angry in
one situation, but in another situation because you're with a certain
someone or even surrounding, you're able to control your anger to the
extent you don't blow up as on the previous occassion.

"Anger" - in the majority of cases is it Controlled or Uncontrolled??????

On the flip side, is anger simply a violation of peace??
